Hafnar.haus: Celebrating Two Years of Creative Innovation in Downtown Reykjavík!

Are you an artist, innovator, or entrepreneur looking for an inspiring space to bring your ideas to life? You should check the Hafnar.haus Open House event and visit the dynamic coworking hub nestled above the Reykjavík Art Museum in the heart of downtown Reykjavík.

This month, Hafnar.haus is celebrating two incredible years as Reykjavík's vibrant hub for creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Since its founding in 2022, this dynamic coworking space has brought together nearly 300 members from all creative fields—artists, designers, developers, musicians, and more—transforming the top floors above the Reykjavík Art Museum into a 3,700 square meter playground for creative minds. With its roots in a historic building with a plan to become a part of the museum in the future, Hafnar.haus used the opportunity and quickly established itself as a melting pot of ideas and a laboratory for Reykjavík’s creative industries.

A Creative Playground

Hafnar.haus isn’t just a workspace—it’s a community. Nearly 300 members from all walks of the creative industries call this place home, collaborating, sharing knowledge, and fueling each other’s creative journeys. Whether one is sketching in a private studio, brainstorming in a meeting room, or recording a podcast in the dedicated studio, Hafnar.haus provides everything needed, from clay and woodworking studios to a print shop and photo studio.

Join Their Open Coworking Space

While the private studios may be fully booked, Hafnar.haus still welcomes new faces into the open coworking space. This is where diverse talents mingle, collaborate, and create together. Applications are open to anyone in the creative industries, focusing on ensuring a rich diversity of voices and ideas. Joining this thriving community offers a unique opportunity to be part of Reykjavík’s creative heartbeat.

More Than a Workspace: A Movement

Hafnar.haus is more than just a place for work—it's shaping the future of Reykjavík’s creative landscape. Run in collaboration with the City of Reykjavík, it operates as a non-profit social development project where members are active participants in creating and evolving the space. With weekly events like exhibitions, concerts, workshops, and networking mixers, there's always something happening. The community also shares its stories through a podcast, hafnar.blabla, highlighting the journeys of the brilliant creators working within its walls.
